“And the reinforcements have arrived”

After a long waiting period, South Brunswick’s new football coach has been finalized: Coach Mike Gerst. The former Fort Lee head coach spent 2 years at the program going 7-3 his first year and 9-0 his second season for a combined record of 16-3, with notable wins coming over Ridgefield park twice (27-25 and 50-40) and Indian Hills (13-8).
The new South Brunswick head coach also played high school football at Bergen Catholic, a powerhouse of NJ football with over 20 state titles in football and consistently sending players to division 1 programs. Some of their notable football almunni include Brian Cushing a linebacker for the Houston Texans and Jim Finn a Fullback for the Giants. Gerst played running back for the Crusaders racking up over 300 all purpose yards and 3 touchdowns in his final 2 seasons before graduating in 2012 and going on to play college football at Midwestern State University.
Gerst will join Coach Peter Ogrodnik a former high school player himself at Spotswood. Ogrodnik has been the longest tenured South Brunswick coach here with 6 years of experience coaching freshman and as of the 25-26 season coaching Special teams. “Coach O” as the kids call him is also the weight room coach spending time every week in the gym helping the players get ready for the next season. With the season right around the corner the players are excited, the coaches are excited and the fans are excited. We will see you in our opener on August 29th vs Watchung Hills.
Lets GOOOOOO!
