Goalie Morgan Anderson-Thomas has an admirable and hardworking role on South Brunswick High School’s (SBHS) Girls Soccer Team. During the early fall, Morgan became the first student to block 500 attempted goals by her junior year. Since then, she has saved an additional hundred, successfully contributing to her team by blocking 600 attempted goals from opposing teams.
“It feels good knowing my hard work has paid off. All the time and effort I put into playing and the time having injuries, it’s all paid off, and it feels good. But also, I know I can accomplish more. I’m ready to keep playing and keep achieving more, especially with my team,” Morgan said.
Morgan has known about her passion for soccer since elementary school and after joining club teams. Now in her 9th year of playing, she is determined to one day play for the World Cup and achieve many additional goals while doing what she enjoys most: playing soccer.
In the game against Old Bridge on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Morgan recorded 27 saves in a single game. Though SBHS did not win, it showed off the skill and talent Morgan brings as a goalie. In this season alone, she has made 198 saves in just 16 games. Last year (2024-2025), she totaled 217 saves, and the year before, she saved 192 goals. She has consistently improved each season and continues to make an impact on her team, regardless of their final score.
Looking back on her career, Morgan also shares a piece of advice. “Something my mom always told me is if you put the time and effort into something, everything becomes easier. You know that when you get to that moment, you’re ready for it and it’s worth it. So, trust your training and continue your goals because hard moments are meant to happen. That’s how you persevere. That’s how you learn. Just keep continuing with something, don’t give up, because when you give up, you’re not going to accomplish what you really want.”
SBHS looks forward to seeing Morgan in action next fall when she will close out her high school career in soccer, one of the greatest careers in South Brunswick history.
