On March 21, 2026, the Future Educators Association Club (FEA) hosted its Cooking and Baking Saturday Morning Mania (SMM) at South Brunswick High School at 10:00 AM, in the hallway of colorful hearts, along with a warm welcome from the FEA club. Around 40 kids from grades K-5 attended the event, filled with activities including making pizzas, playing icebreakers, four corners, and decorating sugar cookies. At approximately 10:15 AM, students were divided by grades K-2 and 3-5 to begin their rotations through the different activities.
The Future Educators Association club is advised by business teacher, Mrs. Amanda Ganguzza, who stepped into the role as advisor following the retirement of former advisor Meryl Orlando.
Pre-event
Club and board members arrived at 9:00 AM to set up. Members prepared ingredients like cutting fruit for dirt cups and fruit kebabs, organizing pizza toppings like sauce, cheese, and peppers, and setting up frosting and sprinkles for cookie decorating. President Eliza Khan(2026) shared, “I’m so proud!” recognizing the effort and dedication of all members, especially the freshmen, during one of her final FEA events as a senior. Before the event began, members were treated to donuts, cookies, and bagels from the board. To maintain professionalism, members were not allowed to use their phones during the event. The only exception was the social media coordinator, Andrade (2026), who was unfortunately absent. All photos were taken by executive member, Richa Surve (2026).
K-2
Students in grades K-2 completed their activities in the preschool room. They began by making their own pizzas, choosing from toppings such as sauce, cheese, and bell peppers. Next, they decorated sugar cookies with colorful frosting and sprinkles, showing impressive creativity. For their final activity, they made fruit kebabs by selecting and assembling their favorite fruits.
After each activity, students washed their hands and gathered on the colorful rainbow carpet. The K-2 group was primarily led by underclassmen, including freshmen members Arsheen Siddiqui, Eiliyah Muhammed, Raina Simlote, Alya Saha, Riddhi Shah, and Celina Iskaros. Along with support from event coordinator, Sarah Khan(2027) Diya Thakur(2026) and general member Neveah Holder(2028)
3-5
Students in grades 3-5 worked in the culinary arts classroom. They began with pizza and cookie decorating, followed by a snack break. Their final activity was making dirt cups using chocolate pudding, gummy worms, crushed Oreos, and fruit.
The 3-5 group was led by Diya Thakur and Neveah Holder, along with strong support from FEA board members, including Vice President Siri Parakoti (2026), Secretary Azra Joseph (2027), and Treasurer Simra Shuja (2027).
Break
During snack breaks, students enjoyed chips, pretzels, and juice. This time allowed club members to build connections with the children. Several 5th graders asked questions about transitioning to middle school, creating meaningful conversations and mentorship opportunities.
Begin Wrapping Up
As the event came to a close and parents began arriving, students participated in classic games like Four Corners and Duck, Duck, Goose. This allowed some members to get a head start on cleaning while others continued engaging with the children.
Once parents arrived and the pizzas were finished baking, students packed their food to take home and share with their families.
After dismissal, members worked together to clean both the preschool and culinary classroom, which were filled with supplies and materials from the event. Mrs. Amanda Ganguzza reflected, “They did amazing! It was all hands on deck, and they were impressive as always.”
By 1:00 pm, the event had concluded successfully, leaving both students and staff proud of a smooth and memorable experience.
