On Wednesday, March 18th, in the blue cafeteria at 6:30 pm, The SBHS Performing Arts Small Ensembles hosted their annual Coffeehouse night. The evening included students, staff, and parents gathering together in our school community.
The beautiful voices created a pervasive ambiance, as it was cozy, low-key, and relaxed, making it easy to sit back and enjoy the music, converse with friends, and engage in said activities.
I went to this event with my friends and asked them what they had thought about this event and how they felt during the experience. Seraphena Youssefagha (‘28) said, “I really liked this event, it was inclusive of everyone regardless of physical and or mental differences, and I absolutely loved hearing my friends sing!”
But, the students’ beautiful voices weren’t the only delightful reason why people attended. There was a cookie decorating station was hosted by the Sweet and Savory club, where people iced their unique designs, a coffee station where people made their own coffees with additional cream and sugar, a station where people could get beautiful henna designs done on their hands and or arms, and a craft station where people got the opportunity to make and customize their very own bird feeders!
Attendee Nitya Tiward (‘28) said “I’m so glad I came out tonight, I just love seeing others have fun and interact with activities. I liked that I could express myself through the designs of henna I gave myself, and the cookies I decorated”
Regardless of if you are attending SBHS or not, our community creates a safe and accepting atmosphere for everyone. Aanya Jain (‘28) “It was nice to get out on a weeknight, it’s always nice to take a break from school work to interact with people, have fun activities, and to listen to music.” This event gave many the opportunity to take a break from stress, and to relax and just have fun and potentially meet new people. I would recommend attending this event next year if you couldn’t make it this year!
