On an otherwise-ordinary Thursday night, South Brunswick High School’s auditorium was packed with students, teachers, and families excited to witness a show crowning the school’s most talented senior boy, Mr. SBHS.
On March 26, at 6:30 pm, eleven senior boys performed in the school’s annual show to win various awards, as well as the distinguished title itself. In a hilarious, entertaining performance, this year’s competitors featured Agustya Chinta, Arnav Mota, Rishab Kangyampeta, Jacob Walczyk, Aidan Fung, Emiliano Reyna, Alex Vega, Mario Williams, Ryan Santoro, Ian Taylor, and Dami Osinowo. Each contestant displayed their own uniqueness in a collection of unique, comedic, and entertaining performances. The show included dance numbers, classic duets, and an impressive showcase of their very own talents.
The night opened up with Mr. Jeffrey Tuliszewski and Dr. Justin Negraval, who took the roles as hosts, and entertained the audience throughout the show with sarcastic comments, advertisements, and engaging commentary about life at SBHS.
This event particularly impacted the diverse audience across the auditorium in a significant way. While it served as a memorable moment for many seniors watching their friends perform one last time, it acted as a refreshing experience for many freshmen. Arhan Shah (2029) shared his experience about the performance and some of his thoughts. He said, “Mr. SBHS was really fun, and it was such an eye-opening experience. I’m going to do it in the future.” Mr. SBHS is not only a recurring event that excites many, but also inspires many. The collaboration taken with a group of senior boys, student council, and multiple advisors and teachers to make this event happen, displays a tight-knit and genuine experience within SBHS.
As the night approached its end, several contestants were awarded special titles such as “Best Dressed” and “Fan Favorite.” However, the competition truly arrived at its climax when South Brunswick’s previous winner returned to pass on his crown. Ryan Santoro was eventually named Mr. SBHS at the close of the performance, leaving every audience member with a refreshing perspective of the event. Mr. SBHS has entertained many and inspired many for a long time and will continue to do so for many years to come.
