Eliza Khan (2026), Editor in Chief
As a senior, this year marks my fourth and final year of being in the Viking Vibe. I always thought you had to be a ‘good’ writer to be in this club. Over time, I realized that wasn’t the case. I learned that writing can be fun and diverse. Specifically, I have grown to love writing about school events and being able to attend ones I wouldn’t even think about, If I hadn’t planned to be in the club.
Being in the newspaper has opened my eyes to the spirit of SBHS and the many people and events that are unappreciated or overlooked. If it weren’t for this club, I would barely know my school or be able to contribute towards it. However, journalism has helped me become educated about the little things including the many interesting people and staff that build this school.
Journalism is my way of expressing the significance of our school to others. For that, I thank the Newspaper and Journalism teacher of my first 3 years at SBHS, Mr. Loh. He taught me and most others a part of the club, the importance and basic structure of journalism. And now, Mr. Honig shows great enthusiasm and takes pride within our club and class, making the whole experience feel special.
I can’t wait to see what great things the Viking Vibe may accomplish and how this tight-knit community of reporters may continue to grow–my freshmen self would be so proud!!
