Senior Aditi Chudasama, a USA Women's National Cricket team player has just been named vice-captain of the team. Chudasama first joined the team in July of 2022, in a match against the West Indies.

Chudasama was on the Senior Team in 2023 and competed on behalf of the East region, or the East Team, in the Women's Senior National Championship, which took place in August 2024. Her role on the team is an all-rounder, meaning her skills are vast in both batting and bowling.

Many students at SBHS, specifically the ones involved in cricket extracurriculars or South Brunswick's new cricket club, know Chudasama personally and congratulate her achievements.

Sophomore Vibhaan Bansode said, "I’m very proud of Aditi for being named the vice captain. During my early cricket days, I used to watch her practice for hours, and really put in the hard work. She definitely deserves being vice captain, and I hope she does amazing."

Chudasama was one of the participants of the first ever Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup, before joining the USA Senior Women's Team. The Cup was hosted by the International Cricket Council in January of 2023, after being postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

She talked about the experience of being named vice captain, as well as her personal goals during vice captaincy.

Chudasama said, "Obviously, being the ODI captain, our goal is to get higher up in the rankings and maybe even to qualify for a World Cup. For now, my long term goal as a leader is just to maintain that spot or one day captain again and take our team to big heights."

In terms of advice for younger cricket players and those who may want to play professionally in the future, Chudasama said,

"I think it’s really important to separate your bad and good days on the field and not let that define you as a person off the field and let that dictate you as a person. Bad sports performances don’t make you a less valuable person and at the end of the day, you need to play for yourself and not any expectation you might set for yourself."

Chudasama's impressive journey marks a bright future for both her and women's cricket.
