South Brunswick Board of Education: Recent Changes
The last six months have seen many changes in the administrative and board structure of the South Brunswick School District. We will continue to cover all of these stories as they develop, but for now, here is a quick rundown of some of the most significant changes.
May 2: Mr. Scott Feder announces his retirement as Superintendent
Scott Feder has worked in education for 34 years, serving as superintendent of several schools over the years. His resignation was announced on May 2, 2025, and he now lives in New England, closer to his children.
June 17: Mrs. Lisa Rodgers announces resignation
Lisa Rodgers, a prominent member of the Board of Education announces her resignation on June 17, 2025. On June 19, she explained her reasoning for resigning, with the reason being her moving away from South Brunswick.
July 24: Mr. Barry Nathanson replaces Mrs. Lisa Rodgers and Mr. David Pawlowski replaces Mr. Scott Feder
Mr. Barry Nathanson, who had presided on the Board for years before losing his re-election run in 2024, filled the vacant seat left by Mrs. Lisa Rodgers after interviews conducted at the July 24, 2025 Board meeting. Mr. David Pawlowski, the School Business Administrator, will also take Mr. Feder’s spot temporarily.

August 21: Final Scott Feder meeting
August 21, 2025 was the last Board meeting attended by Mr. Scott Feder.
September 11: Mr. Pawlowski announces he won’t be a candidate for superintendent
On September 11, 2025, Mr. Pawlowski, the interim superintendent at the time, announced he will not interview for the permanent superintendent position. He will retain his current position as Business Manager when his interim superintendent term is finished.
September 26: Dr. Mamman announces resignation
Taking a new superintendent position in East Brunswick, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Evelyn Mamman announces her resignation from the SB BOE. She will officially leave the District on December 1, 2025.

October 9: New Superintendent Update
At the October 9 board meeting, board President Laura Hernandez announced that the superintendent search is over and Mr. Feder’s permanent replacement being selected. This mystery person will be revealed at a special board meeting on October 27th.
November 4: Upcoming Board elections
Three full spots on the South Brunswick BOE are up for election this year, with several board members running for re-election, and many other candidates entering the fray. There will also be a special election for the final two years for the seat left vacant by Rodgers.
